  • Most important question: Would we stay again? Absolutely. The gravel sites are our least favorite part, but Fidalgo Bay RV Resort is an amazing location with clean facilities and friendly staff. • Overall: Fidalgo Bay is a great park in an amazing location right on Fidalgo Bay. The park is broken out in East (lower) and West (upper) parks where East is waterfront. The waterfront side can’t be beat for the view of the water and how quiet it is. The upper park does provide a measure of shade and proximity to laundry and the on-site store. There is also a price difference between the two sides and only one (upper park) is available for long-term or year round options.
  • Site: Grass is located at each site but is/was dead as the park does not water in the summer. Additionally, the sites are not paved so dust (in the summer) can be a lot. There are limited pull through but several back-in spots and all sites have full hook-ups.
  • Wifi: Wi-Fi is totally dependent on where in the park you stay. We had a spot right by the server tower for our first 3 weeks and it was awesome. When we moved to the upper park, our connection was almost non-existent and inconsistent. The staff is aware and are working to get it upgraded. Wi-Fi is consistent in the clubhouse where we worked from as needed, or ran into town as Starbucks and other coffee shops are located on Main Street.
  • Facilities: The park is a bit dated. Most of the facilities (including common buildings/bathrooms and laundry) could use an update. However, what is present is clean and very well maintained. All bathrooms need an access code to enter and bathrooms in the lower park have private toilet/shower combo.
  • Amenities: The park is split in half by the Tommy Tompson trail which is AMAZING for walking, biking, running, etc. It’s completely paved and one direction goes directly over the bay (look for seals!) and the other will take you into Anacortes. The location was our favorite part of the park.
  • Proximity: Fidalgo Bay is about 1.5 hours north of Seattle and 1.5 hours south of Canada.  Anacortes is a ferry ride away from the San Juan islands, and also very close to Deception Pass State Park.

As the youngest of six siblings, I learned patience at an early age. I'm lucky to have a ridiculously supportive family, a loving wife, and 2 dogs who we honestly believe are going to wake up one day and start talking to us. Tiny living appeals to me because it forces you to live more intentionally. Fifty years from now, I don't think we'll regret one minute of this road trip we are living.
